· Housewives spent their time weaving cloth, cutting and sewing clothing, molding candles, curing meats, baking bread. Home was a place for production.

· Ηowever, housekeeping in the middle and upper class houses was easier because of all the new technology (brighter electric lights, telephone, vacuum cleaner, washing machine). Also instead of preparing meals anyone could buy canned food, prepackaged cereal for breakfast etc.

(illegal saloons were alcohol was sold)
and other bars in large numbers

and began to drink cocktails.
· They used to hide alcohol

to containers attached to their legs,
above the hemline of the dresses and skirts.
